greg417 turns the tide on Pure and outlasts hemeroid
A seven-kill opening was not enough: the match changed hands after the seventh minute.
On October 22, 2026, DM-1on1-Pure hosted a Normal Deathmatch that UT3.sk will remember for its sharp contrast between opening speed and closing discipline. The goal was 30 points; the match lasted 611 seconds. Rockets, sniper shots, Shock Combos and close-range scrambles all played their part. For the opening minute, hemeroid looked capable of ending the contest single-handedly. Yet greg417 slowly erased the deficit, survived the most crowded stretch of the night and took charge in the final minutes. Jano, Palic and Rambajz were never passive spectators, either. The lead officially changed only once, but that one change was enough to rewrite the entire result.
Seven straight and an unexpected setback
The first entry came after four seconds, when Ohnostroj suffered a self-inflicted death and dropped to −1. The authoritative first blood came three seconds later: hemeroid hit Jano with a Flak Cannon from 6.7 metres. greg417 fell at 23 seconds; Jano fell again at 25, giving hemeroid a Double Kill. Rocket Launcher hits followed at 40, 42 and 45 seconds, with the last registered as a Multi Kill. By 57 seconds, hemeroid was sitting on seven points while everyone else was still finding a rhythm.
That was the longest streak of the match: seven kills without being killed by an opponent. It ended in an unusual way. At 76 seconds, hemeroid hit himself with a rocket and lost a point, so the data names no opponent as the streak-breaker. OZi had just scored against Rambajz with an Enforcer at 71 seconds; greg417 opened his own account against OZi with a Bio Rifle at 75. The leader was still clear, but suddenly no longer untouchable.
The chase grows louder
greg417 chose steady progress instead of a single impossible comeback shot. At 89 seconds, he hit hemeroid with a Sniper Rifle. At 126 seconds, he eliminated OZi using a Shock Rifle, and at 138 seconds Jano fell to a Shock Combo. His kill against Rambajz at 145 seconds brought him to five. Jano finally found his first point at 148 seconds with a rocket against greg417, then struck hemeroid two seconds later for a Double Kill. The opening deficit was enormous, but the field was becoming noticeably more balanced.
Palic announced himself with a Link Gun hit on greg417 at 188 seconds and another on hemeroid at 190, earning a Double Kill of his own. Rambajz punished hemeroid with a Shock Combo at 206 seconds. Jano continued to rely on rockets, while hemeroid defended the top spot. At 233 seconds the leader had ten points to greg417’s eight. Behind those numbers, the five main contenders were colliding repeatedly; there was no safe route to an easy point.
A record hit and the busiest minute
Rambajz delivered the longest recorded hit at 253 seconds, catching Palic with a Shock Combo from 34.8 metres. The match produced no confirmed 50-metre sniper-distance elimination. Other notable long shots included greg417 landing a Bio Rifle kill on Rambajz from 30.5 metres at 164 seconds and Palic hitting Jano with a rocket from 30.2 metres at 195. This was not merely a close-quarters brawl, even if most decisive fights happened much nearer than those exceptional shots.
By 288 seconds, greg417 had narrowed the main contest to 10–11. Jano accidentally killed himself with a rocket at 307 seconds; Palic suffered his own Flak Cannon mishap at 348. The instant-revenge numbers tell a lively parallel story: Palic claimed nine revenge kills, while greg417 and Jano had eight apiece. The seventh minute, covering seconds 360–419, produced 17 kills, more than any other minute. With that much action, tactical planning had to be reduced to very quick decisions.
Ties, a lead switch and two headshots
At 379 seconds, greg417’s Shock Rifle levelled the score at 14–14. In that same second, hemeroid answered with a Rocket Launcher kill to make it 15–14. Jano reached 14 at 388 seconds, greg417 collected his fifteenth point at 403, and hemeroid held a 16–15 edge at 419. Then came the first headshot: greg417 struck Rambajz with a Sniper Rifle at 441 seconds from 33.2 metres. Eight seconds later he eliminated hemeroid using a Bio Rifle, drawing level at 17–17. The finish was suddenly wide open.
The decisive scoreboard move arrived at 468 seconds. greg417 defeated Jano with a rocket and went ahead 18–17. This was the match’s single recorded change of leadership, not just another short-lived tie. Further eliminations of Rambajz and Jano widened the gap; at 537 seconds greg417 registered his second headshot, this time on Jano. hemeroid’s spectacular opening had been worn away through sustained pressure and carefully distributed weapon choices.
Bio Rifle writes the final line
At 481 seconds, hemeroid lost another point to his own rocket, eventually finishing with 23 kills but only 21 points. greg417 reached 20 at 502 seconds, added Shock Combo kills against Rambajz at 516 and 525, and landed that second sniper headshot at 537. Next came a streak of attacks on Jano: Stinger kills at 556 and 567, then a Rocket Launcher hit at 578. A Stinger strike on hemeroid at 581 gave greg417 a Double Kill notification and 27 points. The finish line was now close enough to see.
The opposition still fought back. Jano hit greg417 at 593 seconds; Palic eliminated Jano at 595. Jano hit Rambajz with a rocket at 607, but also incurred a self-inflicted death that same second. greg417 earned point 28 against Palic at 602, then point 29 against him with a Bio Rifle at 608. At 610 seconds, hemeroid eliminated greg417 with a Bio Rifle, only for greg417 to return the same weapon’s favour in that very second. The final scoreboard froze at 30–21, just before the full 611 seconds had elapsed.

Palic and Rambajz both ended with 17, OZi managed one before departing early, and Ohnostroj remained on −1. The champion did not win by hiding: greg417 scored 30 kills while dying 22 times. His distinction was the stronger finish, greater weapon variety and no self-inflicted deaths. His average life lasted 26 seconds, only one second less than hemeroid’s 27. The best start lost to the best finish. On a map named Pure, that was a remarkably clean turnaround.
