Skokan breaks hemeroid and conquers Devastation late
hemeroid controlled the opening and Jano produced the longest spree, but Skokan took the lead around midgame and never surrendered it.
Devastation began without any polite feeling-out phase. In the 10th second Nanoblack drew first blood on hemeroid with the Impact Hammer from 2.8 meters, so the opening felt more like a door being slammed than a cautious tactical greeting. Seventeen seconds later hemeroid answered with the Enforcer against Jano, and Nanoblack's CampKiller death in the 29th second immediately shuffled the order. Skokan arrived with the Flak Cannon in the 37th second, Jano with a rocket in the 45th, and from then on it was obvious that all four players had come to DM-1on1-Devastation to fight. The target was 30 points, and the lead would change hands only twice, but the road there was anything but quiet.
hemeroid sets the early pace
The first minutes mostly belonged to hemeroid. He hit Nanoblack with the Bio Rifle in the 52nd second, Jano with the same weapon in the 66th, and after kills in the 93rd and 95th seconds he reached six points. The latter was a Rocket Launcher kill on Skokan and the first Double Kill of the match. Skokan, after a rocket suicide in the 62nd second, had only one point while hemeroid built the clearest early advantage.
The rest of the field did not collapse. Skokan mixed the Flak Cannon, Link Gun and Enforcer, Jano leaned heavily on the Rocket Launcher, and Nanoblack repeatedly punished Skokan with the Shock Rifle. In the 134th second Skokan linked kills on Jano and hemeroid into a Double Kill, yet hemeroid still led. After three minutes he had nine points, Skokan six, Jano three and Nanoblack two. The gap was real, but Skokan was already cutting into it.
Jano's spree and the fight for first
The longest spree of the match began in the 209th second. Jano killed hemeroid with the Bio Rifle, then added rocket kills on hemeroid, Nanoblack and Skokan. He dropped Nanoblack in the 283rd second and Skokan with another rocket in the 300th. Six kills without dying took him to ten points and level with Skokan. Nanoblack ended the run with the Stinger in the 320th second. Jano therefore owned the longest spree, although four later suicides cost him valuable points.
At the same time the lead was changing. Skokan tied hemeroid 9:9 in the 267th second, then reached ten alone after a Flak Cannon kill on Nanoblack in the 292nd. Jano tied him 10:10 eight seconds later and hemeroid reached eleven in the 326th, but Skokan answered with the Link Gun in the 338th second and never gave up first place again. After the kill in the 355th second came the longest lull: 30 seconds without a frag.
Skokan pulls away as minute eleven erupts
After the lull Skokan accelerated. He hit hemeroid with the Link Gun in the 385th second and Nanoblack in the 391st, then added Enforcer and Flak Cannon kills. By the 442nd second he had eighteen points. Nanoblack meanwhile scored a Stinger Double Kill in the 406th and 407th seconds. His duel with Skokan became the main rivalry of the match: together they exchanged 30 kills, more than any other pair.
The biggest burst came in the eleventh minute, from 600 to 659 seconds, when ten regular kills were recorded. hemeroid pushed with the Rocket Launcher, Skokan answered with the Flak Cannon and Enforcer, and the other two kept joining the exchanges. After killing hemeroid in the 632nd second, Skokan led 23:17. In the 694th second he then hit Jano with the Stinger from 39.6 meters, the longest kill of the match and proof that his game was not limited to close-range flak fights.
No safe finish until the final second
hemeroid refused to disappear. Two rockets on Jano in the 707th and 711th seconds took him to 20 points. Skokan reached 25 with a Flak Cannon kill on hemeroid in the 719th, but hemeroid gave one back with a rocket suicide in the 729th. Skokan continued through Shock Combo and Enforcer and led 27:21 in the 774th second. Then came his own rocket suicide in the 828th second, and hemeroid cut the margin to 26:23 with a Double Kill on Jano and Nanoblack.
Skokan struck twice with the Flak Cannon in the 878th and 882nd seconds, the second hit completing a Double Kill and moving him to 28. Jano then rocketed him twice, Nanoblack denied two attempts to close while Skokan sat on 29, and hemeroid climbed to 26 with the Bio Rifle and Sniper Rifle. The decision arrived in the 1007th second: Skokan hit hemeroid with the Stinger from 25.2 meters and closed the match 30:26. Jano finished on 20 and Nanoblack on 16.
