hemeroid turns the tables on DM-Deck to beat Rekrut
Rekrut owned the opening, but hemeroid found a pace nobody could match.
Five names entered DM-Deck: hemeroid, Rekrut, Telefrag, Jano and Skokan. UT3.SK hosted a 348-second UltraInstagib Deathmatch with a target of 30 points, and the scoreline was far less straightforward than the final margin suggests. Everyone relied on the Ultra Instagib Rifle, so collecting an assortment of weapons was not the story; taking aim and connecting again and again was. The match recorded four changes of the lead, fierce head-to-head exchanges and a couple of expensive encounters with slime. The eventual winner finished well clear, but initially looked nowhere near the front.
First blood and a lightning start
Telefrag drew first blood in the 15th second, shooting Rekrut with the Ultra Instagib Rifle. Four seconds later Skokan also caught Rekrut. That moment did not last: Rekrut eliminated Skokan from just 3.7 metres in the 26th second. Skokan left the match after 26 seconds with one kill and one death, a brief appearance that still reached the scoreboard.
Rekrut then took charge. He eliminated hemeroid in seconds 30 and 38, leaving his future conqueror without a point. At second 52 he followed a Double Kill on Telefrag with a Multi Kill on Jano, bringing his score to six. By the end of the opening minute Rekrut led hemeroid 7–1.
Long shots, short lives
Rekrut continued to build: eight points by second 65, nine by 72 and ten after catching hemeroid again at 93. Jano kept interrupting the others, especially Telefrag and Rekrut, while hemeroid slowly acquired some rhythm. He reached four points at 99 seconds and five at 122. Rekrut landed a striking 61.3-metre shot on Telefrag in second 125, only for hemeroid to answer three seconds later by shooting Rekrut from 51.7 metres.
In second 141 Telefrag produced the match’s longest elimination, taking down Jano from 79.9 metres. A second later Telefrag died in slime and lost a point. Average kill distances ranged from 22.9 metres for Telefrag to 37.3 for Skokan, while average lifetimes ranged from twelve seconds for Telefrag to twenty for Rekrut.
Six kills rewrite the script
Between seconds 145 and 167, hemeroid put together the match’s longest spree: six consecutive kills without dying. He hit Telefrag, Jano, Telefrag again, Jano again and then the same pair once more. The sequence included a Double Kill at 149, a Multi Kill at 151, followed by another Double Kill at 163 and Multi Kill at 167. Having been on five points in second 122, he now reached twelve.
Telefrag finally stopped the spree in second 168, at an extraordinary distance of only 0.8 metres. Rekrut was no longer accumulating kills as easily as at the start, and at 175 seconds slime took a point off his score too. By the end of the third minute hemeroid was up 13–10.
An equaliser and a slender edge
Rekrut fought back rather than surrendering. By shooting hemeroid in seconds 182, 191 and 196, he pulled the score level at 13–13. He shot Jano at second 203 to reach fourteen. But the answer came in second 209: hemeroid eliminated Rekrut and Jano in quick succession, climbing to 15–14. Ten seconds later he took Rekrut again, reaching sixteen and restoring a useful cushion.
Telefrag remained dangerous, yet hemeroid scored against him in seconds 239 and 256, reaching seventeen and then twenty. Rekrut was still accurate at range: his hit on hemeroid from 62.6 metres in second 258 was proof. At second 282 he brought the gap to 18–21. It was Rekrut’s last kill. He had reduced the deficit to three points, but could not find the next answer.
An unforgiving final minute
hemeroid sharpened the finish. He eliminated Jano at second 297, Rekrut at 307 and Telefrag at 309. Jano and Telefrag answered with kills on him at 312 and 317, but the pressure returned at once. Between seconds 322 and 326 hemeroid rose from 25 to 27 points, including a Double Kill and a Multi Kill. At 333 he hit Telefrag from 59.5 metres, then Jano at 335 to reach match point.
Telefrag briefly interrupted him at 341, and Jano shot Telefrag at 345, but the final shot belonged to hemeroid. At second 347 he caught Jano from 45.5 metres and reached the target of thirty. Rekrut finished on eighteen, Telefrag fifteen, Jano fourteen and Skokan one.

Rekrut was quickest to accelerate, but hemeroid found his best accuracy at the crucial midpoint and renewed that pace in the closing stretch. Telefrag supplied first blood, the only headshot and the longest shot; Jano kept disturbing every duel, while Skokan made his short visit count.
