Maps: DM-HeatRay
An urban deathmatch where the streets quickly become a firing range for infantry and the DarkWalker alike.
DM-HeatRay is an official Unreal Tournament 3 deathmatch map set in a battered city block. It mixes open streets, covered passages and elevated positions, rewarding both accurate long-range fire and players who can pressure opponents with rockets or flak. Its defining signature is the DarkWalker: once it joins the action, a quiet walk down the main street turns into a very short biography.
On UT3.sk, DM-HeatRay has so far been played in 2 matches with 156 kills. The average match featured 4.5 players and lasted 40 minutes. The standings are led by the bot Liandrik with 31 kills in one match, narrowly ahead of MaxRus with 30; Kombo follows with 25, while Deckrat and Naboj have 23 kills each.
Liandrik also holds the map record for most kills in a match — 31. The longest streak belongs to Kombo, who managed 12 kills without dying. With 6,950 m² of walkable space, approximate dimensions of 111 × 122 m and 31 recorded obstacles or holes, there is plenty of room for tactics, but still not enough for excuses.
Battle tips
- Do not linger in the open streets. Move from cover to cover and check elevated positions before crossing a long sightline.
- Use the Shock Rifle to control streets and passages; a well-timed shock combo punishes opponents pushing through a narrow entrance or collecting an item.
- The Rocket Launcher and Flak Cannon are strong in covered routes. Fire at the place an opponent must enter, not only at where they are standing now.
- When the DarkWalker enters the fight, do not challenge it in the open. Change your route, use buildings as cover and attack from angles that limit its line of sight.
- The map contains 31 recorded obstacles and holes, so do not retreat backwards blindly. One bad step can end a streak as reliably as a direct rocket.
- Watch the left side of the overhead layout: the recorded deadliest zones are center-left and upper-left, each accounting for 1.2% of kills.
Only one kill separates the current top two on DM-HeatRay: Liandrik leads MaxRus 31 to 30.
