Anub1ss steals late win on Spliff from rival greg417
Seven lead changes, a two-point margin and a finish where rockets were not enough.
DM-1on1-Spliff hosted an eleven-minute, fifteen-second Normal Deathmatch on September 27, 2026, and its winner emerged only with the final hit. The target score was 30, but the route there included seven lead changes and a running conversation conducted mostly with explosives. Anub1ss finished first on 30, just ahead of greg417 on 28. sergey2203 and Deemer also left a substantial mark, while Behac has only a very brief recorded appearance. Anyone looking only at the standings would miss a remarkable comeback, the match’s sole headshot and a rather impressive collection of revenge kills.
Flak strikes first; the sniper answers
First blood belonged to Deemer at 0:23: a Flak Cannon hit on greg417 from 7.6 metres. In that very second, greg417 struck back with a Rocket Launcher kill on Deemer. The opening lull lasted exactly 23 seconds, also the longest recorded pause between kills. Apparently nobody was waiting for a ceremonial kickoff.
Anub1ss entered the log at 0:27 with a Sniper Rifle kill on sergey2203, beginning a seven-kill spree that ran until 2:17, when greg417 ended it with a rocket. At 1:15, Anub1ss also scored the match’s only headshot against sergey2203, completing a Double Kill and reaching 5 points. Before two minutes had passed, he had six points and a formidable opening rhythm.
A fight for every point
greg417 never relied on just one weapon. He combined the Rocket Launcher with the Flak Cannon, Shock Combo and Bio Rifle to close the gap. At 3:18 he rocketed sergey2203 for his ninth point; three seconds later, Anub1ss hit greg417 with a Shock Combo to tie it at 9–9. Short exchanges followed, making early predictions an exceptionally risky hobby.
At 4:05, greg417 eliminated Anub1ss with the Bio Rifle for an 11–11 tie. Later Deemer killed Anub1ss with a Flak Cannon while down to just 15 health and registered a Double Kill. Anub1ss retaliated with the Shock Rifle in the same second. By 5:41 he led 15–14 thanks to a Shock Combo against greg417. The last word remained fiercely contested.
The rocket surge and the five-point gap
The balance shifted after 6:32, when an own death of unknown cause dropped Anub1ss from 16 to 15 points. greg417 then linked Rocket Launcher kills on Deemer, sergey2203, Deemer again and, later, Anub1ss. At 7:18 he had a 20–15 lead, briefly making the outcome appear straightforward. In Deathmatch, however, “straightforward” rarely lasts long.
greg417 still led 25–20 at 9:07 after hitting Anub1ss with the Bio Rifle. His aggressive approach was effective but costly: the final tally was 28 deaths, with average survival of 23 seconds. Anub1ss averaged 47 seconds per life and collected 30 items, compared with greg417’s nine. That does not identify control over any particular pickup, but it does support a picture of greater staying power.
The wildest minute and the last Flak shot
From 9:24, Anub1ss scored in quick succession against sergey2203, Deemer and sergey2203 again, the third hit yielding another Double Kill. Earlier, at 9:15, sergey2203 had landed the longest kill: a 46.2-metre Sniper Rifle shot against greg417. The supporting cast was not content to merely watch. greg417 moved to 26–24 at 9:52, but two Flak kills by Anub1ss at 10:05 and 10:07 tied the leaders at 26–26.
The eleventh minute was the busiest with 12 kills. Anub1ss rose to 28–26 before greg417 landed two Shock Combos on sergey2203 to level at 28–28. Then came the decision: Anub1ss killed greg417 with a Bio Rifle at 10:56 for 29–28. Deemer still scored on sergey2203, but at 11:15 Anub1ss ended the match by hitting greg417 with a Flak Cannon from just 2.1 metres. Final score: 30–28.
