DM-Edge: hemeroid takes a thrilling one-point victory
Jano opened with a rocket, hemeroid finished with one, and every mistake in between mattered.
On October 14, 2026, DM-Edge hosted a Normal Deathmatch with a straightforward target: 30 points. What followed was 821 seconds of constantly recalculated margins. Six players, 143 death events including five suicides, and a single point between the top two. hemeroid eventually beat Jano 30:29 even though both registered 31 legitimate kills. The difference lay not in the number of opponents defeated but in how many points each player lost through self-inflicted deaths. Brokar, Krallbait, Quickswap and Ampjunkie were anything but background characters: their attacks repeatedly altered the pace of the game and the race to 30.
The first rocket and the first bill
First Blood arrived after just nine seconds. Jano struck hemeroid with a Rocket Launcher from 2.8 metres. Six seconds later hemeroid answered with a Bio Rifle kill on Krallbait, only for Brokar to eliminate him almost simultaneously with a Flak Cannon. There was no gentle warm-up: before the first minute ended, Jano, hemeroid and Brokar had all reached two points. Jano relied heavily on rockets and, at 116 seconds, eliminated hemeroid directly to make his lead 5:4.
At 137 seconds Brokar scored twice with the Flak Cannon, including a Double Kill on Krallbait. Krallbait showed off a Shock Combo, while Quickswap also began landing combo attacks. hemeroid paid for one Bio Rifle mistake with a suicide at 160 seconds. The longest recorded kill-free interval lasted just 24 seconds, beginning at 172 seconds. Rest, in other words, was almost a statistical anomaly.
Jano breaks away, Bio Rifle strikes back
Between minutes four and six, Jano mounted a sustained assault. He eliminated Krallbait at 258 seconds and Brokar two seconds later for a Double Kill. Quickswap fell at 272 seconds; after a Flak Cannon elimination of Brokar at 289 seconds, Jano led hemeroid 12:7. The Rocket Launcher was his trademark, accounting for 21 of his 31 kills, frequently at close range. His average killing distance was just 7.7 metres.
hemeroid refused to accept a five-point deficit. At 279 seconds he hit Brokar with the Bio Rifle from 45.2 metres, the longest recorded kill of the match. He then eliminated Jano at 295 seconds and Quickswap at 301 and 308. Two Shock Rifle kills at 374 and 376 seconds earned him a Double Kill as well. Where Jano thrived in tight encounters, hemeroid could strike from farther away, with an average kill distance of 14.4 metres.
Three lead changes and six from Krallbait
By 408 seconds Jano and hemeroid were level at 14. Eight seconds later, hemeroid rocketed Jano to take a 15:14 lead, then shot him with the Sniper Rifle at 422 seconds. The game registered three changes of leader overall, while the head-to-head contest remained subject to constant interference. Brokar used the Link Gun, Quickswap deployed Shock Combos, and Krallbait briefly made the spotlight entirely his own.
From 483 to 565 seconds, Krallbait registered the longest spree: six kills without an enemy killing him. His targets included hemeroid, Ampjunkie, Brokar and Jano, and a Link Gun Double Kill came at 541 seconds. But a self-inflicted Rocket Launcher death at 565 seconds put an end to it; the data names no opponent as the spree stopper. Krallbait also led with nine immediate revenge kills, followed by Jano with eight and hemeroid and Quickswap with seven each. A further Jano Double Kill at 587 seconds confirmed that nothing was settled.
A finish with no safe lead
At 600 seconds hemeroid had 23 points to Jano's 22. Jano surged back: his Rocket Launcher killed Quickswap at 662 seconds and Krallbait at 703, bringing Jano to 27. hemeroid was then on 23, before Bio Rifle kills on Ampjunkie and Jano brought him to 25:27. Meanwhile, Brokar recorded the only headshot of the match, sniping Ampjunkie at 720 seconds, and eventually reached 24 points.
At 761 seconds hemeroid sniped Jano, who answered with two Flak Cannon kills at 767 and 773. But at 775 seconds Jano hit himself with the Flak Cannon, dropping from 29 to 28. hemeroid levelled at 28:28 at 779 seconds and moved ahead 29:28 at 796. Jano rocketed Brokar at 805 to make it 29:29.
