Vulgarus conquers DM-Sentinel after six lead changes

DM-Sentinel produced a Deathmatch that refused to belong to one player for long. Vulgarus drew first blood at 21 seconds with a Sniper Rifle kill on Freylih, but the opening immediately became messy: Freylih took an early suicide, Headhunter dropped Vulgarus with the Stinger at 32 seconds, then lost his own point three seconds later. After Headhunter's brief 35-second appearance, the real contest settled around Vulgarus, Trefa and Freylih. The final 30:19:18 score looks much calmer than the route that produced it.

First blood, then Trefa surges

Vulgarus opened at 21 seconds, landing the Sniper Rifle shot on Freylih from 22.4 metres. There was no clean escape from the pack. Trefa entered the scoring at 51 seconds with the Rocket Launcher, and the early exchanges kept the leaders close. A Shock Combo at 105 seconds put Vulgarus on 3 against Trefa's 2, but that was the cue for the first major swing.

From 143 seconds Trefa assembled the match's longest spree. He killed Vulgarus with the Link Gun, Freylih with the Flak Cannon, Vulgarus again with Flak, Freylih with the Shock Rifle and then Freylih once more with the Rocket Launcher. Five unanswered kills carried him to 7 points by 182 seconds. Freylih finally stopped the run at 215 seconds with a 36.6-metre Shock Rifle kill on Trefa, the longest kill of the entire match.

Chasing, ties and a frantic eighth minute

Vulgarus started eating into Trefa's lead with Shock Combos. He removed Freylih at 247 seconds, Trefa at 252 to tie the score at 7:7, then hit Freylih again at 293 to move to 8 and retake sole possession of first place. Trefa answered with the Link Gun at 303 seconds. Even Vulgarus's Flak Cannon suicide at 370 seconds only created a temporary opening; seven seconds later he used another Shock Combo to level matters again.

The computed tempo data marks the eighth minute as the busiest, with seven kills. Trefa killed Vulgarus with the Stinger at 430 seconds and Freylih three seconds later for a Double Kill and a score of 10. Vulgarus fired straight back: Shock Combo on Trefa at 438, Sniper Rifle on Freylih at 442, 10:10. At 457 he Stingered Trefa to lead 11:10. The scoreboard was moving like an elevator with a broken button panel.

The last tie and the decisive break

Trefa kept forcing the issue. He tied Vulgarus at 12:12 at 494 seconds and moved to 13 at 528 by killing Freylih, only for Vulgarus to equalise with a Shock Combo two seconds later. Vulgarus led 14:13 at 561. Trefa stayed close and, after a second quick Stinger kill on Freylih, reached 15:15 at 649 seconds. That was the final tie in the fight for first. Four seconds later Vulgarus killed Trefa with the Shock Rifle and never surrendered the lead again.

The decisive stretch ran from 653 to 713 seconds. Vulgarus killed Trefa, Freylih, Trefa again and Freylih again; after one reply from Freylih he added a Rocket Launcher kill on Freylih and another on Trefa two seconds later. The last two completed his Double Kill and pushed the score to 21:15 over Trefa, with Freylih on 11. Vulgarus had turned a dead-even duel into a real cushion. His 14 Shock Combo kills were the strongest single weapon signature by any player.

Silence before the closing shot

After another cluster of trades, the arena went quiet. No kill landed from 784 to 839 seconds, a 55-second pause and the longest of the match. Vulgarus broke it with a Shock Combo kill on Trefa for point 22. Trefa answered with the Stinger at 866 and Freylih caught Trefa with a Shock Combo four seconds later, but Vulgarus was now controlling both the gap and the pace.

In the closing phase Vulgarus repeatedly found Freylih: Shock Rifle at 880, Shock Combo at 890, then after Freylih answered at 903, Vulgarus killed Trefa and added two more kills on Freylih. A Rocket Launcher at 997 brought point 28, a Shock Rifle on Trefa at 1016 made it 29, and at exactly 1030 seconds Vulgarus ended the Deathmatch with a Sniper Rifle kill on Freylih. Final score: Vulgarus 30, Freylih 19, Trefa 18, Headhunter 0.

Match moments
  • Vulgarus drew first blood at 21 seconds with a 22.4 m Sniper Rifle kill on Freylih.
  • Trefa produced the longest spree: five kills from 143 to 182 seconds.
  • Freylih ended that spree at 215 seconds with the match-long 36.6 m Shock Rifle kill.
  • The eighth minute contained seven kills and Trefa's three-second Double Kill.
  • The last tie came at 15:15 in the 649th second; Vulgarus moved ahead four seconds later.
  • Vulgarus completed a Double Kill at 713 seconds to stretch the lead to 21:15.
  • The longest quiet spell lasted 55 seconds after the 784th second.
  • Vulgarus scored the winning 30th point at 1030 seconds with the Sniper Rifle on Freylih.

DM-Sentinel ultimately rewarded the player who best converted chaos into sustained pressure. Trefa owned the longest spree and repeatedly reached the lead, while Freylih stopped that spree with the longest shot of the match. Vulgarus, however, was the most stable player in the second half. His average life lasted 51 seconds, compared with 31 for Freylih and 32 for Trefa, and his 15 revenge kills show how often he answered quickly after dying. Once the score reached its final 15:15 tie, his mix of Shock Rifle, Shock Combo and Rocket Launcher created a break that never closed.

    Who killed with what

Each player's kills split by weapon. Reveals every fighter's favorite tool.

Shock Combo led all causes with 21 kills, followed by Shock Rifle with 17. Vulgarus scored 14 Shock Combo kills; Trefa led his own arsenal with seven Stinger kills, while Freylih had seven each with Shock Rifle and Shock Combo. There were no headshots.

Vulgarus built his plan around space control with the Shock Rifle and especially Shock Combo, punishing transitions between short and medium range. Trefa was more dangerous when pressing with the Stinger and Flak Cannon, as his spree and Double Kill showed, but that style was less stable in extended exchanges. Freylih often disrupted fights from slightly longer range without holding the initiative for long. Vulgarus also collected the most items, giving his late shift from chasing to positional control a stronger resource base.
