Match history — match detail
biggest overkill: KST (122 dmg) · airborne kills: 40 · gutsiest kill: Kemper (4 HP)
Match verdict: Jano defeated KST 30–27 because he maintained the stronger scoring pace after their 21–21 tie at 750 seconds. Twenty-nine Rocket Launcher eliminations and key kills between 844 and 985 seconds outweighed his four self-inflicted penalties.

Jano withstands KST surge and conquers Devastation
Five changes at the top, one eight-kill streak, and a last rocket to settle the argument.
Match 278 on DM-1on1-Devastation, played on October 17, 2026, was a Normal Deathmatch with more momentum shifts than anyone could comfortably count without a scoreboard. Four competitors chased a 30-point limit for 985 seconds, or 16 minutes and 25 seconds. Jano eventually finished first with 30 points, KST was close behind on 27, and Kemper and Flakjack both ended on 21. The official record counts five lead changes. KST produced an extraordinary eight-kill spree, Jano relied on repeated Rocket Launcher hits, and Flakjack claimed first blood before the favorites could establish their rhythm. Nobody was guaranteed an easy route to the finish line.
First blood and the streak that changed everything
Eight seconds after the opening, Flakjack caught Kemper with the Flak Cannon for first blood. Jano replied against Flakjack at 13 seconds and struck KST twice with rockets at 26 and 44 seconds. It looked like a direct, early challenge, yet KST had only started warming up. At 66 seconds, a Shock Combo against Jano began the longest uninterrupted killing spree of the match. Hits at 90 and 91 seconds gave KST a Double Kill. Jano answered by removing Kemper at 99 and 106 seconds, but KST kept collecting victims, particularly with the Bio Rifle.
At 252 seconds KST reached eight points while Jano was on seven. Those eight uninterrupted kills were more than an impressive statistic: they temporarily wrested control of the race from the early leader. At 256 seconds Jano stopped the streak himself, connecting with a Rocket Launcher from a single meter away and leveling the score at 8–8. For anyone trying to hold a lead on this map, that was an extremely loud way to reopen negotiations.
Kemper joins the leaders in a crowded middle act
The middle section rejected any neat two-player script. KST reached nine points at 266 seconds, and Jano moved to ten with another rocket kill against KST at 315. Then Kemper caught fire with the Stinger: Jano fell at 327 seconds, Flakjack at 329, and KST at 333. At that point Kemper led with 11 points to Jano's ten and KST's nine. A CampKiller death at 346 seconds immediately cut his score, reminding everyone how easily a promising run could evaporate.
Jano collected further kills at 373, 380 and 394 seconds, and his 13–12 advantage over KST restored some breathing room. Meanwhile Flakjack registered Double Kills at 222 seconds with an Enforcer and at 453 with a rocket, preventing the chasing pack from fading away. KST's Sniper Rifle headshot on Kemper at 473 seconds was the match's only headshot. Across the full match, five lead changes captured the restless contest for first place better than any single snapshot could.
Rocket power and the price of self-inflicted damage
After killing KST at 490 seconds and Kemper twice more by 524, Jano stood at 18 points while KST had 14. Yet his aggressive rocket use came with a measurable bill. His own Rocket Launcher caused deaths at 176, 555, 611 and 795 seconds; all four deducted points. He recorded 34 enemy kills but finished with a net score of 30. KST suffered no suicides, so his 27 kills translated directly into 27 points. The score remained close enough for that difference in discipline to matter.
The weapons also revealed contrasting ranges. Kemper's 39.4-meter Link Gun elimination of Flakjack at 135 seconds was the longest hit of the match. Average kill distances were 8.4 meters for Jano, 15 for KST, 12.7 for Kemper and 10.2 for Flakjack. The longest pause between deaths lasted 30 seconds, from 274 to 304 seconds. Both the seventh and twelfth match minutes saw nine kills, and the pace rarely allowed the leaders to settle into a comfortable routine.
A 21–21 tie and a rocket at the final second
KST hit Jano with the Shock Rifle at 750 seconds to draw level at 21–21. Jano reclaimed an edge at 768 seconds by shooting KST with a rocket. Kemper then disrupted both contenders: at 812, 818 and 823 seconds he used the Flak Cannon against KST, KST again and Jano. Once again the third-place threat became a factor in the title race. Jano hit Kemper at 844 seconds, Flakjack at 873 and Kemper at 878, reaching 25 points and beginning to stretch the gap.
Even Jano's 28 points at 933 seconds did not end the drama. KST found Kemper with a Shock Rifle at 939, then Jano with a Shock Combo at 947 to cut the margin to 28–26. Jano struck KST with the Link Gun at 959 seconds, moving to 29. KST answered with yet another Shock Combo against Jano at 972, making it 29–27. At exactly 985 seconds, Jano found Kemper with the Rocket Launcher from 6.5 meters. That final kill reached the 30-point target and fixed the score at 30–27–21–21.

The final score is only the shorthand for a thoroughly unsettled Deathmatch. Jano led with 34 kills, but four self-inflicted rocket deaths complicated his route to 30 points. KST delivered the best spree, eight kills without dying, and the only headshot, yet could not convert that excellence into first place. Kemper and Flakjack, both on 21, repeatedly disrupted the contenders instead of merely filling the lower half of the standings. The log records 108 valid opponent kills plus nine suicide events. Jano's 15 instant revenge kills, more than anyone else's, capture why he kept recovering after setbacks. His last rocket gave the match a fitting punctuation mark.
