Jano Breaks KST’s Stinger Grip with the Final Rocket
KST controlled the middle, but Jano had the last rocket.
DM-Agony3-SE hosted a Normal Deathmatch worthy of a permanent page in the UT3.sk chronicle. Four competitors faced a 30-point limit for 15 minutes and 33 seconds, with six changes of leader along the way. The final standings read Jano 30, KST 29, Flakjack 22 and Kemper 16, but that tidy list hides a very disorderly contest. KST built the longest spree, eight consecutive kills, and appeared to have the middle of the match under control. Jano answered with an astonishing 36 kills against opponents while accidentally destroying himself six times with his own rockets. Those self-inflicted deductions turned a commanding attack into a one-point victory.
First blood and rockets coming home
Flakjack landed first blood at 21 seconds, dropping Kemper with an Enforcer. KST followed two seconds later, eliminating Jano with a Stinger, and Flakjack struck Jano again at 35 seconds with a Flak Cannon. Jano's first kill arrived at 60 seconds against Kemper with a Rocket Launcher. He then hit Flakjack, but the blast at 69 seconds also killed Jano. The same costly pattern returned at 105 and 177 seconds: an opponent went down, then the rocket user paid for it himself.
Meanwhile, KST was collecting points with Stinger and rockets. At 154 seconds he fired the match's longest recorded kill, a 60.6-metre Redeemer hit on Flakjack. Another Jano rocket suicide at 230 seconds made his pursuit harder. He recovered with an Enforcer Double Kill at 245 seconds, then a rocket Double Kill at 267 seconds. Kemper killed him with a Bio Rifle in that very same second and followed with Shock Combos at 279 and 281 seconds.
Eight uninterrupted kills put KST in charge
The decisive stretch of the middle belonged to KST. Starting at 379 seconds, he assembled eight kills without dying, a streak that Flakjack finally stopped with a Stinger at 516 seconds. Flakjack, Kemper and especially Jano supplied the victims. The Stinger did much of the work, while rockets widened the advantage. KST led 15–11 at 455 seconds and 17–12 at 494 seconds.
Jano found Flakjack with a Redeemer from 35.9 metres at 504 seconds and added more rocket kills. He reached 15 points at 533 seconds, only for KST to answer with a Stinger kill one second later and move to 18–15. Jano scored a Double Kill against KST at 549 seconds after taking down Flakjack with rockets. At 555 seconds, however, another successful attack on KST was followed by another self-inflicted rocket death.
The thirteenth minute changes everything
KST regained momentum. Stinger kills on Flakjack at 604 and 613 seconds were followed by another on Jano at 628 seconds: KST led 22–18. Jano responded by hitting KST with the Redeemer at 669 seconds. At 723 seconds KST reached 24 points, yet two Jano kills at 733 and 735 seconds brought the score to 24–24. The second was a Double Kill against Flakjack with a Rocket Launcher from just 0.9 metres.
The supplied statistics identify the thirteenth minute as the busiest, with ten kills. Flakjack and Kemper kept disrupting both contenders while Jano reeled in the lead. KST reclaimed it at 756 seconds, 25–24. At 777 seconds Jano drew level by killing Flakjack. More rockets struck Flakjack at 786 and Kemper at 805 seconds, turning the score into a 27–25 Jano lead. KST still had a response, moving beyond his trusted Stinger to Bio Rifle and Shock Combo attacks as the clock ran down.
Twenty-nine all, one rocket remaining
The last two minutes were a test of nerves. Flakjack killed Jano at 816 and 827 seconds, while KST scored on Kemper at 823. Jano answered by eliminating Flakjack at 854 seconds, then KST himself at 862 seconds to reach 29 points. At 879 seconds KST caught Jano with a Stinger and rose to 28. He survived that duel with just two health points.
Flakjack completed his own Double Kill at 899 and 900 seconds, but the title fight was still open. At 909 seconds KST used a Shock Combo on Flakjack to tie the game at 29–29. Kemper took KST out at 914 seconds with a Shock Rifle, forcing him to search for another chance after respawning. That chance never became a point. At 932 seconds, Jano launched the decisive rocket into Kemper and hit the 30-point target.

KST's defeat was especially harsh: he averaged 38 seconds per life, recorded the eight-kill spree and died only 23 times. Jano averaged 29 seconds per life and endured 31 deaths, including six suicides, but his 36 eliminations supplied the 30 points needed to win. Flakjack was no bystander, drawing first blood and ending KST's streak; Kemper contributed the late kill that disrupted KST's final chase. Average kill distances by player ranged from 9.7 to 13 metres, and the deciding rocket travelled just 8.5 metres. The UT3.sk lesson is simple: a reckless approach can still succeed if the final correction arrives before the final whistle.
